Beijing China Embassy Locations
The Danish Embassy has been in Beijing for over 100 years, although the Beijing China Embassy Locations has changed over the years.
Ever since October 2008, when the former Prime Minister of Denmark Anders Fogh Rasmussen visited China and established a partnership between Denmark and China, there has been a strong comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, forming a framework for the future.
Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
Denmark and China have agreed to intensify their cooperation in the future, with particular attention to the following:
- Climate, energy and the environment
- Education
- Research and innovation
- Strengthening political ties between Denmark and China, and frequent high level exchange visits
- Improved commercial relations, including investment and trade
- Labor
- Tourism and Culture
In this strategic partnership, the two countries underline the importance of responding to the climate changes being witnessed around the world, and strive to cooperate with their efforts to establish a global climate agreement.
Danish Embassy in China
This has meant that there is a high Danish presence in China, particularly in the capital city of Beijing. In fact, the first Danish Embassy was established more than 100 years ago, with the diplomat Count Preben Ahlefeldt-Laurvig arriving with his family to Beijing in 1908. The 100th anniversary of the arrival of a Danish diplomat to China was celebrated during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
In 1950 the Danish Embassy was located in Nanheyan Dajie, which is close to the Imperial Palace, but moved in 1974 to the area of San Li Tun. There are many new buildings within the compound of the embassy, which only go to prove the ongoing expansion of the relations between the two countries of Denmark and China.

And Finally – The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid, from the famous fairytale by Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen, has been relocated from the harbor at Copenhagen and temporarily taken up residence at Denmark’s Pavilion in Shanghai at the EXPO 2010. The pavilion is intended to showcase all the things that Denmark do well, and help to promote even further the remarkable culture and philosophy of the country.
